Changes to the model of care for Paediatric Surgery in the Central Region of New Zealand has seen a need to provide outreach surgery at home District Health Boards. Currently children often travel for surgery, however outreach Paediatric Clinics are already provided to regional DHBs. The service requires someone who can progress this other new initiatives and lead the service into the future. The team will consist of five full-time surgeons to provide paediatric surgery to the lower half of the North Island of New Zealand. The service covers specialties in paediatric surgery including urology, neonatal surgery, chest wall and thoracic surgery. Tertiary child cancer service, including surgery, for CCDHB is provided by Canterbury DHB. tasks To see patients at local and regional clinics To operate at Wellington, Kenepuru Hospitals and Central Region DHBs To provide clinical care to patients at Wellington (including neonates) To be part of a team and to teach junior staff and medical students from the University of Otago at Wellington To move into the Clinical leadership abilities function within Paediatric Surgery expertise & practice A fully trained Paediatric Surgeon who is interested in leadership abilities, capable of independent practice, and can be registered by NZMC A subspecialty interest in paediatric urology with emphasis on hypospadias surgery Evidence of practice and/or training in clinical leadership abilities About our Organisation Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region.
