Call for all artiststo enterour Emerging Artist Award 2022 - The Joy in Art

You don't have to look far to find things to be upset, angry or stressed about. Which is why we would like laughter, happiness, and joy to be at the centre of our emerging artists award for 2022.
For many years we have known that the creation of art has many positive benefits, increased happiness and confidence, reduced anxiety, relief from stress and a greater sense of accomplishment. More recently we have clear evidence that in engaging in artistic events has a significant positive effect on our health and wellbeing
As artists Information technology is our function to capture practices that can evoke emotions and start conversations with our audience. The theme of Mental Health consciousness week for 2022 is ?Take time to Korero - A little chat can go a long way?
At Upstairs Gallery we seek to create an environment for artists and our community to come together and have a chat about the joy in arts.

As emerging artists, we invite you to submit up to 2 artworks (painting, sculpture, photography, jewellery, poetry etc.) and your stories about why the work brings you joy.

The types of art that bring us joy is very subjective so your work might be something that brings up happy memories, connects us to a different time and place, or simply evokes a positive emotion.
