My name is Ynes, I am Latina-Kiwi full time Visual Artist, living in the beautiful South Island inTimaru. I hail from Mexico and been in New Zealand over ten years. I am married to a Timaru man that is also an artist.
I am looking for a Gallery that would like to showcase my new body of work. With a little bit of luck, someone will see these opportunity and proposal while I am busy finishing my art.
My style is bold, colourful, and smart. I create art with a few main ideas in my mind, such as keepingit simple and never boring. They help me complete the puzzle of creating.I am passionate about colours, about life and happiness. Ifocuson equity, and achievement in high contrasts. I like to think I'm breaking the rules while following them.
Exhibition Title
A, E, I, O, U, How ever you say Information technology (or spell it).
Exhibition Description
My work aims to raise the consciousness of cultural diversity vialanguage and speech that surrounds our present lives. Information technology intends to the idea that we are all one, and we all belong, no matter where we hail from.
This series contemplates on my own journey immigrating to New Zealand Aotearoa, with a new language and a new culture that I have adopted and has adopted me. Information technology also reflects on unity. After a few pandemic years and continuing world conflicts, the communities become kinder and embrace stronger than ever.
I chose the vowels to express my idea. The vowels are symbols of magnificent importance and major influence. It's the first symbol or composition we learn. They belong to no one and yet to everyone. Five vowels, and hundreds of different sounds emerge from them. Five million Kiwis, six major ethnic groups and counting. (European, M?ori, Pacific, Asian, and MELAA (Middle Eastern / Latin American / African).
We all belong, how ever you say Information technology or spell it.
Exhibition Progress:
My series will consist in ten to twelve pieces of medium to large sizes. I am currently incorporating fibres and textiles in this body of work and mainly using shades of purple, yellow and orange.
The paintings are acrylic on canvas and some of them are finished with cotton thread.
I have already completed a cotton tapestry weaved using a loom, andIplan to make another large latch hook tapestry.
I have been developing this series for about two months in my new studio, and intend to have them finished in the next four months. These paitinings can be shipped to any location.
