Recovery function in Emergency Management

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership abilities to New Zealand’s distributed emergency management system. NEMA’s primary focus is on the performance and capcapability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery.

In this function you will be engaging with a broad range of stakeholders at strategic and sector-wide levels, to advance recovery and build New Zealand’s capability to recover from emergencies. The Recovery Team develops and implements strategic frameworks, operational policy and practitioner best practice, and drives coordinated and holistic recovery planning and activity before, during and following an emergency.
We are seeking for a Senior Advisor, Recovery. We will be looking for candidates with the following attributes:
   » practice in developing strategic frameworks, operational policy, national guidance and advice.
   » practice at proactively building and leveraging collaborative stakeholder relationships and engaging strategically at a range of levels across government.
   » expertise of recovery policy and practice, and emergency management systems, processes, and planning.
   » practice of operating strategically including identifying opportunities to leverage to achieve desired results.
   » expertise in one or more of community engagement, district and land use planning, local government or social science aspects of emergency management or resilience.
income range for this position is $94,716 – $111,431K per annum.
Due to the security requirements of this function, candidates must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident.
