The Audience and Insight Directorate leads an integrated approach across the organisation to how our visitor-facing activities connect people, taonga and stories. Audience-centric and strongly collaborative, the directorate brings together the activities of programme development, audience research and evaluation, marketing and communications, digital strategy, and content and exhibition design.
What you will do
The purpose of this function is to lead and shape Te H?taka Matua | the Holistic Audience Programme, defining our audience-facing offerings across multiple channels and over the long-term. Information technology brings assurance that the Te Papa has a rolling long-term audience programme that is dynamic, impactful and exciting.
The Head of Audience Programme will do the following:
   » Provide confidence and insight for decision-making and planning
   » Take an audience-centred approach, located on our knowledge of our visitors
   » Bring together skills and leadership abilities from across the museum to develop the programme in a collaborative manner and makes recommendations to the Executive.
   » Provides confidence and insight to aid Executive decision-making, and support project planning and delivery
   » Manage an Audience Programming Advisor, shaping their work and developing their potential
   » Maintain strong relationships with external suppliers and partners, and work across key teams in Te Papa to consolidate and enhance the shape of our audience offerings.
About you
Our Head of Audience Insights will be a seasoned leader, with deep practice programming for audiences at scale.
To be prosperous in this function you will have the following:
   » Possess an analytical and detail-oriented mindset, matched with strong communication and presentation skills
   » Be comfortable presenting to many different audiences (including executives) and using your influence to bring people on board your vision for programming
   » Femonstrate your commitment to bicultural kaupapa in all aspects of your work
   » Play a leadership abilities function in our commitment to fostering M?ori and Pacific communities as our priority audience development focus
   » Demonstrate a strong collaborative approach to working effectively with a broad range of people, including many stakeholders from internal creative teams to external creative communities
   » Have a clear knowledge of the function of museums as a provider of information and learning opportunities, and as a modern visitor attraction
   » Act as a key advocate for audiences, mapping out how this the holistic audience programme can create authentic impact and engagement
   » Have strong planning and time management skills, demonstrated practice managing budgets, and a well-developed capability to balance competing priorities
   » Set work priorities, foster staff development and champion audience-centric approaches
The income range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 pa. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and practice offered by the candidate and those required of the function, and internal relativities with other employees.
