Ko t? m?tou mahi – Our function
Greys Ave is the creation of a 276-unit apartment complex in central Auckland, delivered under a ‘single-site supported housing’ model. The new development includes both retail/commercial and office spaces alongside shared amenities, designed to create a welcoming, supportive, and connected community within an environment that promotes greater health and wellbeing results.
‘Single-site supported housing’ is the coordination of public housing coupled with support services to meet customers’ social and health needs and increase wellbeing. Greys Ave is one of the first demonstrations of single-site supported housing in Aotearoa New Zealand with 24/7 on-site support services.

Hapori Kaitiaki – Community Guardian
The Hapori Kaitiaki will be the first point of contact for customers and tenants at 139 Greys Avenue, their visitors and the community. You will be responsible for ensuring they all receive the appropriate care, information and support required within a welcoming, healthy environment.
this function provides the opportunity to make a real difference in our customers’ lives, as you build trust, develop strong and lasting relationships, support housing and wellbeing needs and help to create a thriving, connected community at 139 Greys Avenue.
The Hapori Kaitiaki team will create a welcoming and safe place for all of our customers and tenants to live in their homes, with the greatest degree of independence possible.
Ng? p?manawatanga ?u – What you will bring:
   » A track record of supporting customers who may have challenging housing and wellbeing needs, coupled with the capability to build enriching customer relationships
   » You’ll be adept at recognising emerging situations, de-escalating highly emotional situations, and knowing when to escalate and request external support
   » You’ll have strong observational and analytical expertise that can be applied to practical situations, with an aptitude for problem solving and knowledge the reasons behind customer issues in an empathetic manner that is free of judgment
   » You’ll be practiced working with different cultures and/or community groups, and support a kaupapa M?ori approach to ensure the new service meets our customers’ aspirations and preferences in a culturally appropriate Te Ao M?ori framework
   » Our customer base is varied, so bilingual and sign language capcapability is an advantage, but not required
Important to know:
   » these functions are physically and mentally challenging and may present you with confronting/potentially triggering situations. Please think carefully before applying
   » these functions require a commitment to be working rostered shifts as part of a 24/7 frontline service. Rosters will be published two to four weeks in advance, and from time-to-time will require and include cover on weekends and public holidays
   » rosters will initially be trialled, and feedback invited periodically to determine whether any changes are required
   » in recognition of your shift work in these functions, you will be entitled to an additional one weeks leave each year (pro rata)
   » you will also receive a 30-minute paid meal break each shift, in lieu of being able to leave the building during your shift
   » you will be required to attend our Matua Hapori Kaitiaki training and onboarding programme between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. During this time, you will be required to work 40 hours per week and will be compensated for those hours. Following the completion of your training you will resume your normal hours of work.
