This new function will play an important part in the Children and Young People's Commission that commences on 1 July. You will work closely with the Principal Advisor Governance to support the new Board of up to six Commissioners, as they determine the strategic direction for the new agency. You will help ensure the Board has what Information technology needs to operate smoothly and to set a strategic direction that will make a real difference for mokopuna in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Staff of the current Office of the Children’s Commissioner, including this function, will transfer into the Commission to deliver its responsibilities for advocating for mokopuna and monitoring important aspects of government's treatment of them.

M? te t?nga / About the function
The Secretariat Administrator is new function that will provide high-quality administration and secretariat support to ensure the effective operation of the new Board.
In this function you will provide support for Board meetings and any subcommittees including:
   » helping to develop and produce agendas and meeting records
   » organising all logistics including travel, accommodation, catering, venue booking
   » ensure accurate recording of registers of interest
   » providing administration support for the training and induction programmes of board members
You will report to the Principal Advisor Governance and will work closely with them to ensure efficient end-to-end secretariat services and facilitating high-quality support to the Board.

You will be an practiced administrator, ideally with a background in providing administration and logistical support in a governance or secretariat capacity. Your organisational skills will be second to none and you will be exceptional in your capability to make things happen seamlessly.
The prosperous candidate will also have:
   » skills in administrative systems, procedures and technology
   » Excellent time management skills and capability to multi-task and prioritise work
   » High level of proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Outlook, in particular)
   » Excellent attention to detail
   » Excellent communication skills, particularly oral and written skills
   » Proficiency in Te Reo M?ori and Tikanga M?ori, or a commitment to broadening your expertise in these areas is highly desirable.

   » A income between $61,734 - $70,000 gross per annum (although we may be able to offer slightly higher for the right candidate)
