this function sits in the newly refocused business unit Creative Capital to recognise and elevate the arts and culture sector in the Council and ensure that the Council is set up to to reflect the significance and effective delivery of the Aho Tinistrategy for Wellington.
You will be working with our wider Events team to take a holistic view of the events delivery including but not limited to - booking and managing causal event staff, ensuring that they are fully briefed, producing all significant production paperwork including but not limited to site plans, event management plans, safety plans, arranging / attending all event production and planning meetings, budget planning, supplier and stakeholder liaison. As well as production on some of the City's large scale events this function will also be responsible for delivering small scale events. You will be managing relationships with multiple performers, suppliers and community groups to make sure each event is delivered on time and on budget.
This is a full-time, fixed-term function until July 2022.
We are seeking for people with significant practice of working on community, arts or cultural events, and a proven track record of networking and building excellent relationships and working within the events industry. You'll be a self-starter, have plenty of nous and capable of achieving excellent results in a high-pressure environment with demonstrated practice of producing and delivering medium to large prosperous public outdoor events. Your initiative, excellent communication expertise, customer centricity and problem-solving abilities will go a long way to contributing to us delivering our events across the city.
The nature of this function requires you to be flexible in your hours including weekends and evenings when required to supports events; you will also need to have a full clean NZ driver's licence, and the capability to carry and move equipment.
You will be working alongside a team of highly skilled event professionals that are passionate about their work for the City. The Events team are a very busy, creative, tight knit group of vibrant professionals, who strive to create, support and deliver significant and accessible public events, that capture the essence of our unique capital. Information technology is an exciting, fast-paced function, where no two days are the same! This is a unique opportunity to foster Wellington's diverse community and culture by effectively managing a vibrant community and cultural events programme such as New Zealand's largest Firework display, A Very Welly Christmas, Ahi K? event during the Matariki ki Poneke Festival 2022 and much more!
