Principal Policy Advisor - ContractorJob location:Wellington Wellington Central Work Type: Temporary » » » » Deliver a regulatory regime for offshore renewable energy » Wellington CBD - Fast-paced Policy Delivery Environment » Immediate Start available – 3-month contract – $140-$150ph The function » Public Sector Client looking for practiced Senior or Principal Policy contractors for 3 months to assist with driving the work on a regulatory regime for offshore renewable energy (offshore wind farms). » The Team are finalising the practiccapability permit process (considering feedback on the first discussion document) and design of the subsequent commercial permit process, including its structure, criteria, and award. » We are evaluating options for the optimal sequencing of applications for permits and consents and improving our knowledge of how offshore renewable projects would be treated in the consenting process. » Working with other agencies to see if we could provide clearer standards on the collection of environmental data. » Working with Transpower on scenario-located modelling to understand the onshore transmission implications of potential offshore renewable energy projects (this will include what upgrades might be needed, expected timeframes, cost estimates and an analysis of where these costs would fall). We are also considering ownership model options for offshore transmission and the trade-offs between these models. » Designing decommissioning requirements, including what developers will be required to decommission, how any financial security value should be calculated and what an appropriate financial security vehicle should be. » Establishing what offences should be called out within the regime, what enforcement options we think should be included and progressing a matching exercise between these various offences and penalties.
