Assistant AccountantLocation All TasmanTasman Job type Permanent Salary to Category Accounting > Accountant - Assistant/Graduate » Family owned - National Company » Career Progression with ongoing training and support » Based in beautiful Nelson, the Group Support Team provides leadership, marketing, accounting, training, HR, safety, and IT support to the 9 branches. The assistant accountant is a new role that will support their Company Accountant in the preparation of the monthly reporting package and support our branch administrators by providing expertise and improving processes. The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure, maintain high level of professionalism and integrity, display a positive attitude and team focus, be inquisitive and articulate. Specific responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: » Maintaining our fixed asset records » Continuous improvement (Processes and procedures) » Prepare monthly paperwork to support the monthly reporting » Accounts payable & receivables » Payroll processing & reporting » Prepare and file PAYE and GST returns on timely basis » Provide support/mentoring for branch admin staff in good financial management practices Applicants to display the following attributes: » Experience in a similar role » Tertiary qualification in accounting or business » Good understanding of financial closing process and day-to-day accounting operations » Good understanding of taxation such as GST, PAYE and income tax » High level of computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc » Ability to work to agreed time constraints and deadlines » Ability to pick up new systems quickly To be eligible you must be able to pass our pre-employment screening which includes: Reference Checking (2 working references) and a credit check.
