About our group and team Our teams around the country work closely with the Early Childhood and Schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, skills and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential. We also directly provide Learning Support for around 40,000 children and young people. About this function This diverse and busy position reports to the Director of Education for Greater Wellington . The position provides support and trusted advice across a broad range of activities with a particular focus on strategic advice in relation to national and regional priorities. Furthermore, the position supports links with the education sector and other social sector agencies partnering with the Ministry to deliver government initiatives across Greater Wellington . In this function you will: » lead selected programmes and initiatives on behalf of the Director » design and scope regional initiatives » develop/source solutions to high priority problems and issues » design and implement effective communication processes; and » ensure that sector and interagency intelligence informs the region’s strategic intent, initiatives and practice. About you To be prosperous you will: » have strong stakeholder engagement/relationship management skills » be diplomatic and have excellent judgement » demonstrate impressive problem-solving skills; and » have an capability to work at pace, producing cogent argument from assorted data and delivering clear messages in a range of media » provide sound project management skills and practice » identify, shape and strategically lead programmes of work in response to the region’s key performance areas » provide operational management and communications » be politically astute and work well under pressure » accurately collate information and data to report change impact, business performance, risks, opportunities, trends, and success indicators in the regions » have the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
