About our group
The Early Learning and Student Achievement Group sets the system-level learning for every child and student. Working between policy and customer facing functions, there is a significant political, stakeholder and public interest in the high performance of this group and the education curriculum and teaching workforce results we seek for New Zealand.
The Pathways and Progress group has a significant programme of work to refreshThe New Zealand Curriculumand transform curriculum supports, resources and services over the next five years. We want Information technology to be easier for schools and communities to design and deliver rich learning opportunities that support the progress and success of all young people.
The group works collaboratively with a range of partners to use evidence, educational trends and diverse perspectives to design and implement curriculum frameworks, resources, tools and services that are powerful in the hands of schools and communities as they work together to support the learning of all their young people.

About the function
The Senior Adviser supports the design, development and implementation of teaching and learning initiatives to support students to lift achievement. In the Curriculum Design team our Senior Advisers own specific pieces of work within wider programmes. They drive the development of curriculum resources and initiatives, and provide written advice on key issues.
About you
The person in this function has practice working at pace and manage set tasks and projects, as well as noticing pressure points and taking the initiative to resolve them. Your personal qualities include taking pride in producing written work and other forms of communication of the highest quality every time, and you have a proven capability to get the job done. You have the kind of interpersonal savviness that means you relate well with all kinds of people. Your background practice and expertise contribute to the team providing high quality services to the sector and across the ministry.
