About our group and team
You will join The Web and Applications Services team. We provide business analysis, development and testing for priority business applications and ensure that the applications used all over the Ministry (and increasingly by many in the wider Education Sector) are reliable, high quality and available when needed. We provide resources, including staff, for projects. Once a project is delivered the Web and Applications Services team is responsible for supporting it.

located in Wellington, we have two newly created vacancies and exciting opportunities for practiced and talented Senior Software Engineers/Senior Web Developers to join our fun team.

In your function, you will be responsible for:
   » producing and implementing high quality digital solutions and supporting and maintaining the portfolio of existing products
   » Providing skills and advice within the team and across the business to enable the Ministry to be the best of class in the digital space
   » Developing technical improvements to all systems managed by the Web Services team, with a focus on cloud digital technologies
   » Enjoying a modern working environment in which effort, a sense of humour and a positive attitude are highly valued
   » Working with like-minded colleagues who share information and focus on business goals
About you
As the ideal candidate, you will be an practiced full stack Web Developer/Software Engineer with excellent skills in Drupal and Silverstripe CMS, PHP and front-end languages.
Ideally, you will have the following:
   » Have prior practice with Drupal. This is a must have as all our new sites are built in Drupal
   » Have prior practice with Silverstripe or the capability to lgain Information technology very quickly as we have many existing sites built in Silverstripe
   » Have excellent practice in Native PHP, LAMP and JavaScript
   » Have prior practice in designing Rest APIs
   » Have excellent knowledge of cloud-located services in particular AWS including hands-on practice building AWS deployment pipelines
   » Knowledge of the New Zealand government web and uscapability standards
   » Be an excellent team player who is inclusive, collaborative, supportive and a great mentor
   » Have excellent written and verbal English communication skills, at both a technical level and a general business level
   » The capability to demonstrate your motivations to work in an environment that is committed to benefit our education system. This includes embracing our unique and diverse society which welcomes different abilities, religious beliefs, ethnic groups, earnings levels and ideas about teaching and learning
   » The capability to understand and develop your knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi which is a critical starting point in inclusive education in Aotearoa New Zealand
