Job Opportunity: 22/511 Advisor:Department of Internal Affairs - Te Tari TaiwhenuaJob description:Job DescriptionType: Fixed TermHours: Full time Job location: Wellington Business Group : Policy and Operations Branch: Local Government income: $68,060 – $92,081 » An opportunity to demonstrate your exceptional organisational and relationship management expertise » Varied and interesting work which will have a national impact » Two-year fixed term function Local Government Branch The Local Government Branch provides advice to Ministers on key strategic policy issues facing the Local Government sector portfolio, the regulatory and legislative frameworks that govern the Local Government sector, including the Local Government Act 2002 and its amendments, and the Local Electoral Act 2001 and its amendments. Enhancing relationships with Iwi-M?ori is a cross-cutting kaupapa within the Local Government Branch and a series of place-located initiatives have been piloted and implemented in several rohe (regions) across Aotearoa/New Zealand. Initiatives include: » Kaupapa Reorua:bilingual towns and cities » Data Portal:providing data to co-governance arrangements so they can effectively manage their resources » Streamlining:supporting Councils and Iwi-M?ori to work together The Advisor will support the continuing implementation, prosperous delivery and the development of an enhancements programme of work. We are seeking for a candidate that has the following expertise and practice: » capability to establish relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders » Work effectively with diversity, people from diverse backgrounds and has current practice working with Iwi-M?ori and local government » Demonstrated practice supporting the delivery of prosperous projects including contract management, invoicing, collecting intelligence and feedback from suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders » An organised, self-starter who can manage competing priorities including working with partner agencies, gather insights, and contribute to Ministerial briefings and responses » Excellent written and verbal communication expertise and can adapt these for a range of audiences » Is confident working in a Te Ao M?ori context and understands how to apply m?tauranga M?ori to progress work programmes and initiatives » Is comfortable using te reo me ona tikanga M?ori If you're looking for a challenge that encourages you to think innovatively to help make a difference to Aotearoa/New Zealand and its people, then this function could be for you.
