The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in Care is the largest undertaking of its type in our history. The Executive Director position has recently become vacant, so we are now seeking someone to lead the Royal Commission through to its conclusion in June 2023. The Executive Director is responsible for driving the continuing development and implementation of the Royal Commission's work programme at this critical stage of the Inquiry. Information technology is an executive public service leadership abilities function with significant people and financial responsibilities; and an opportunity to make a significance difference to the future of how Aotearoa cares for our most vulnerable people.
You will work closely with the Chair of the Inquiry, Commissioners and the Counsel Assisting. The Royal Commission has robust partnerships with M?ori, Pasifika and other key stakeholder groups which you will lead. In addition, you will manage a skilled team and ensure an effective professional approach to programme management that will lead to high quality and on time delivery.
We are pursuing a senior leader (ideally with Public Service practice) with a deep knowledge of the machinery of government. You will have superior relationship management and influencing expertise, excellent judgement, political astuteness and relentless focus on programme management and delivery. A track record of working effectively in partnership with M?ori is essential, as is a genuine commitment to the kaupapa of the Royal Commission. This will be a fixed term position for up to 24 months, and either Auckland or Wellington locations will be considered.
