About our group
SE&S – Sector Enablement and Support
Our teams around the country work closely with the Early Childhood and Schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, skills and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential.
About this function
this function will support the Director of Education and the leadership abilities team by:
   » working alongside iwi, Maori organisations and the education sector to reengage akonga Maori who have become disengaged from education back into education pathways
   » source and provide a range of evidence to help iwi, Maori organisations and education providers to find solutions that will encourage akonga Maori to attend and engage with education
   » set up and manage any funding agreements that are developed as part of the solution.
About you
If you want to make a difference for akonga Maori and their whanau to succeed in education this is a great opportunity for you.
To be prosperous you will have the following:
   » An knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, and their implications for the work of the Ministry
   » Have an consciousness of, and sensitivity to, the cultural values and needs of Maori
   » significant practice with Te Reo Maori me ona Tikanga
   » Te Reo Maori proficiency would be an advantage
   » An knowledge of the compulsory sector
   » Develop trusting relationships with our iwi partners
   » Proven practice of building effective stakeholder engagement – recognising the different needs and appropriate approach to working with different stakeholders
   » capability to quickly identify and mitigate risks and manage strategic linkages with internal and external initiatives
   » Outcome-focused style of working
   » Great organisation and communication skills and capability to build effective relationships
