At Te Tahuhu o te Matauranga – Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to akonga and whanau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and knowledge the needs of those who receive our services.

About our group and team
The Resourcing Group is responsible for delivering operational funding and staffing entitlements to nearly 2,500 schools. We administer annual payments of approximately $5.8 billion to schools and kura.
The Monitoring team provides the Ministry with assurance that schools and licensed early learning (ECE) services have received the correct resourcing entitlement. This involves completing resource allocation audits, special reviews and the reconciliation of resourcing and funding claims in both the school and early learning sectors.
Mo tenei turanga – About this function
Resourcing Auditors have delegation under the Education and Training Act 2020 to enter and inspect schools and licensed early learning services for the purpose of completing audits, to verify that resourcing claims are accurate and meet Ministry resourcing requirements. This involves some national travel and working on location in schools and licensed early learning services, as well as in the Ministry’s offices. The Resourcing Auditor will also be required to contribute to other areas of responsibility for the Monitoring team, such as project work and audit process design.
Mohou ake – About you
You should have a tertiary qualification or practice working in a public sector agency, auditing practice, excellent written and verbal communication expertise, as well as strong relationship management expertise. You will need to have the capability to travel (may include overnight), occasionally at short notice.
You will be expected to demonstrate the following:
   » Strong relationship management expertise, including conflict resolution and capability to adapt communication style to the intended audience
   » Problem solving and strategic thinking expertise, including the capability to make decisions by strategically balancing conflicting factors
   » Knowledge and proven practice of the principles of auditing
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
   » Excellent time management and organisational expertise – must be able to manage and prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
