The details: Fixed term till June 2022 (will then be reviewed), 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE)
About the position
Waikato DHB is seeking Kaitiaki to work in our hospitals. You will be joining our team of Kaitiaki who provide cultural support and advocacy for M?ori patients and wh?nau who journey through our hospitals. The Kaitiaki function supports the individuals hauora needs, wh?nau need, facilitates access to services across the hospital and advocates for a safe mana enhancing transition out of the hospital and back into the community.
This work will embrace M?tauranga M?ori and Te Ao M?ori to be effective for our M?ori community and fulfil our Te Tiriti obligations. Our Kaitiaki are located at all of the following hospitals and we will be recruiting local Kaitiaki from each area.

   » Thames Hospital
   » Tokoroa Hospital
   » Te Kuiti Hospital
   » Taumarunui Hospital

Required expertise & practice:
   » practiced at providing supportive and respectful services to M?ori
   » Excellent communication expertise (verbal and written)
   » practice at implementing whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and wairuatanga into practice
   » knowledge in Te Reo me ona Tikanga M?ori eg Karakia, Mihimihi
   » Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
   » Demonstrated capability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload.
   » capability to work both independently and as a team player
