Transforming New Zealand’s Public Health System
The Minister of Health has committed to transforming New Zealand’s Public Health system. The changes will reduce fragmentation, strengthen leadership abilities and accountcapability. In particular, the changes aim to improve equity of access and results for all New Zealanders. The Partnership between HNZ and MHA in ensuring Te Tiriti obligations to improve M?ori health are embodied in the new entities. The formation of HNZ and the MHA is a key component of the transformation of New Zealand’s Public Health system. The entities will be formed at the passing of legislation expected to be in place from 1 July 2022.
Scope and deliverables
The Principal Technical Specialist reports to the Manager, Contract Support and will support and promote innovation and continuous system improvement through quality commissioning and policy, effective regulation and evidence-located decision making.
You will lead specific projects and be a strong contributor to the broad range of activities undertaken by the team including writing and reviewing advice for Ministers, enhanced service design, delivery and monitoring; new programme implementation; financial and non-financial analysis and engagement with key stakeholders.
What you will bring to the function
Key to your success in this function will be your previous practice in service planning and development, as well as funding and contracting processes. A key component of this function will be planning and negotiating effectively with service providers on behalf of the agency. You’ll be known for the capability to promote cooperation and collaboration in the achievement of priorities, and effectively juggling multiple priorities.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi
The programme of work is grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and all functions will involve engagement with diverse stakeholders, and working with M?ori to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
The function
This is a permanent fulltime function on band 19g which has a income range of $ 117,363 – $ 156,483. Offered income will be located on candidates’ expertise and practice.
