Now is an exciting time at Te T?huhu o Te M?tauranga – The Ministry of Education. We are working differently with the sector and communities so that our education system can deliver the best results for tamariki and wh?nau. We are pursuing to recruit for our Learning Support team, located in our Te Tihi o Maru office.
About our group and team
This is a great opportunity for those who are passionate about leading transformative change to support improved educational results for ?konga and their wh?nau. To be prosperous in this critical function as a Kaitakawaenga you will have a calm, empathetic and caring approach, be committed to building collaborative relationships and working proactively with tamariki M?ori and their wh?nau, hap?, iwi, educators and Learning Support colleagues to identify and eliminate barriers to accessing learning support services.
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships to enable partnership that provide for enhanced learner access to support, will be a critical function of this function. This varied and at times challenging function requires working knowledge of effective strategies for engaging M?ori and a deep knowledge of te ao M?ori. Kaitakawaenga provide advice to Ministry staff about how they can work effectively with M?ori and be more culturally responsive in their work. They support M?ori tamariki and their wh?nau in meetings with educators, Ministry specialist staff and other agencies with learning support needs. They provide advice and guidance aimed at supporting tamariki M?ori and their wh?nau to achieve equitable education results.

   » At least three years working in M?ori community development
   » Strong interpersonal and collaborative working expertise
   » A high level of competence in te reo me ?na tikanga M?ori
   » A solutions and values-located approach
   » The capability to positively influence others
