About this function Springload have a small, high functioning DevOps and Infrastructure team. As a digital agency we have a focus on efficiency and automation, with opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects and platforms. You will get to use industry leading tools and technologies, working with a variety of high performance teams to deliver robust, highly automated solutions. For this function we generally prefer candidates with some background in development, and while formal qualifications are good, they’re not essential. We value proven practice, analytical thinking and great communication expertise. Check out our github account for some of our tooling: » https://github.com/springload/ssm-parent » https://github.com/springload/ecs-tool » https://github.com/springload/terraform-aws-ecs-cluster How we work We use some great technologies to help us deliver efficiently and systematically, for example: » We make broad use of Docker containerisation » We use IAC broadly and avoid any manual configuration » All of our development environments are containerised » We run production workloads on ECS, Azure k8s and other container runtimes » CI/CD: we use CircleCI and Github Actions primarily » We favour managed survices and reducing the surface area of services we have to manage As an Infrastructure and DevOps Engineer you'll: » work with teams, architects and developers to design and build scalable, secure and redundant infrastructure solutions on public cloud platforms. » Design, build and maintain highly automated CI/CD pipelines and cost efficient, secure and performant hosting environments using Infrastructure as Code » collaborate with cross-functional teams to build Developer practice focussed solutions that enable developers and deliver cost effective solutions for our clients » continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency » have a keen attitude towards learning new technologies and frameworks. Essential Technology expertise: » Public Cloud (Primarily AWS), especially IAM functions and Security groups » IAC: We useTerraformandPulumi either of these or a similar tech should be fine » Networking » Shell Scripting » Linux, we generally use Alpine or Debian derivatives » GIT and other VCS software » Docker » Web Servers, primarily NGINX » HTTP protocol especially headers Useful technology expertise: » Development practice, ideally with node, TS, Python or Ruby » Golang » Nginx » IAC: Terraform, Pulumi » SQL and database technologies: Postgres, MySQL » Debugging, logging and monitoring expertise Other practice we’d love » Great team-working expertise » Estimation » Great communication expertise: the capability to articulate your ideas and plans well, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences. » A systematic approach to problem solving » A high degree of empathy Remote Candidates Springload is located in Wellington and we support remote working, currently the function is only open to candidates resident in New Zealand.
