Job Description

The adjunct Collection Manager, Te Mana o Rangit?huais responsible for the expert physical care, fieldwork collection, processing and documentation of specimens and their connected data collected during the Te Mana o Rangit?hua project. In addition, the function is responsible for building and maintaining a database for existing data of Rangit?hua's ecosystems, including aggregating and cleansing data from local and global institutions. The function holder will be responsible for managing all data collected during the project; including oceanographic data, biodiversity and material culture records, photographs and footage.

Desired expertise and practice

To be prosperous in this function, you will offer:
   » Tertiary qualification in a field significant to the Natural Sciences collections of the museum
   » practice working within iwi and M?ori research contexts
   » practice in preparation of museum natural science specimens, including dry and wet specimens
   » Collection management database practice, preferably in Vernon CMS
   » Demonstrated capability to maintain accurate records and using computers to manage collections
   » Demonstrated practice working in a field and laboratory environment
   » practice in working in a remote location, including on research vessels, is highly desirable
   » expertise of New Zealand flora and fauna is desirable
