Health and Safety Advisor - 6 month FTCJob location:Bay of Plenty Tauranga Work Type: Temporary » » » • NZ Fire & Emergency; govt agency; great team; high trust function • 6-12 month availcapability (maternity cover); Tauranga located • Up to $96k plus vehicle; WFH/Office balance With one of the team taking Maternity leave, there is requirement for a capable and competent H&S Advisor/Coordinator to cover this 6 month (potentially 12) space within a great little team. You will not be responsible for the general coordination and progression of investigations, education, and reviews/quality checking of Level 1 and 2 investigation management. The function itself relies on a high trust model, where by you are entrusted to run your own week as you see fit. The right person for the function is: • A planner, able to organise and structure your week efficiently • A people person who is good at building quality relationships • Qualified with either more hands on H&S practice, or backed by a formal qualification • A quick learner • Independent, able to juggle WFH/Office balance at your own discretion You will know H&S well – what you won’t know is the systems and processes that guide this government organisation. Therefore the right person will come into this function with the capability to pick up new systems and processes well, and be able to manage a portfolio on Gisborne, Hamilton, Bombay’s and coromandel. There is some travel, although not heavy, and there is an expense card to cover travel related costs. The function is an 8.5 hour everyday requirement – you are expected to manage your own week, so that if you are required to educate and be a part of meetings outside of work hours, that you will take time in lieu to balance this. A very enjoyable space building trust and relationships amongst both volunteer and career fire and emergency staff. There is a trip in November for a day in Wellington to get the team together, and overall plenty of support around you. The function is best suited to someone who will not require too much training, beyond the systems and processes, therefore Information technology would not be appropriate to a junior person requiring full training.
