Who we are
The Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC) is a nationwide organisation operated by Auckland UniServices Ltd and is located at the School of Population Health at The University of Auckland. IMAC provides New Zealanders with independent, information located on international and New Zealand scientific research relating to vaccine-preventable diseases and immunisation. IMAC also provides information and training for health professionals, national immunisation coordination and policy advice and research into many aspects of vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases.
The Opportunity
we At Present have a great opportunity for aSenior Pacific Advisorto join our team on a permanent basis at 0.8/1 FTE (32/40 hours). The function is key to ensuring that all IMAC projects acexpertise and account for the health needs of Pacific health providers and community. Specifically, you will engage with Pasifika providers and ensure that the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi are reflected and embedded in IMAC's strategic and annual plans and mahi.
Key responsibilities
   » Provide advice to the IMAC team to grow Pacific culture and engagement.
   » Ensure the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pacific cultural values are supported and implemented.
   » Build and maintain high trust relationships and communication with stakeholders, ensuring a culturally appropriate point of contact for members of the various Pacific communities.
   » Ensure that IMAC staff are culturally supported in the work that they carry out.
Your skills and practice
It is essential for you to hold:
   » A tertiary qualification in health - preferably public health or health promotion.
   » Fluency in at least one Pacific language and demonstrated expertise of Pacific culture and traditions.
   » Evidence of having developed/supported Pacific cultural competence in organisations.
   » Demonstrated relationship, networking and engagement skills particularly within the Pacific networks and cross-culturally.
   » Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Previous practice in a similar position in the health sector would be an advantage.
