About us
We are an Iwi, hapu, wh?nau culturally kin-located ?s396L1a? Maatua Whangai Service, located in Turanga-nui-A-Kiwa / Gisborne.
We provide:
   » Iwi care and protection for children & young persons aged between 0 - 18 years of age and their wh?nau
   » Social work
   » Whanau Resilience support for whanau and their children, young people
   » Youth Justice Remand Home for youth aged 12 - 18 years of age
Iwi care is at the heart of all we do and is driven by placing mokopuna first.
Our vision and goal
Our vision is
?Hoki mai a tatau mokopuna, ki o tatau pito wh?nau mai?
?Return our mokopuna home?.
Our goal is to ensure that our wh?nau whakapapa and whanaungatanga are upheld with best practice and cultural integrity and to retain and or return our mokopuna from state and or non-state care back to their whenua.
About the function
We are pursuing 3 sets of home carers to provide everyday care for children and young person's in your own home.
You will need to reside within the Tairawhiti rohe and be able to communicate and relate effectively and positively to children and young person's through cultural and social activities designed to assist their development.
To do this effectively you will need to have knowledge of tikanga, M?ori values and concepts of raising children and young people.
About you
We are pursuing prospective employees who have a strong sense of cultural identity, responsibility & resilience towards iwi development.
You will need:
   » A genuine interest, passion and commitment towards proactive and positive children and young persons' development;
   » Sufficient life practices to understand the challenges faced by children and young person's and their wh?nau and an knowledge of the concept of ?Mokopuna Voice';
   » An consciousness of Children and Young Person's Care & Protection and Safety comes first;
   » To demonstrate good honest work habits, and a high standard of ethical and personal conduct;
   » To understand the importance of and have respect for leadership abilities and cultural development inclusive of the wider picture of whakapapa & whanaungatanga within the ?world of the child in Care?.
